The problem

AI is making us faster.
But is it making us sharper?

Every time you ask AI to draft your email, solve your problem, or build your analysis — your brain skips a rep. The thinking muscle you don't use is the thinking muscle you lose.

Two years ago, you'd reason through problems step by step. Today, your first instinct is to prompt. The skills that make you valuable — judgement, reasoning, original thought — are quietly getting weaker.

Researchers call it cognitive offloading. We call it the biggest unaddressed side effect of the AI revolution.

🧠

You stop reasoning before you start

Complex problem at work? Your first thought is now "let me put it into AI" instead of thinking it through yourself. The approach-building skill atrophies from disuse.

📉

You can't tell when AI is wrong

AI gets it meaningfully wrong 30–40% of the time in real work. As your critical evaluation skills decline, those errors start slipping through unchecked.

🧑‍🎓

The next generation never builds the skill

Students growing up with AI as their default thinking partner may never develop independent reasoning skills in the first place. The window to build those skills is closing.

The research

This isn't a hunch.
It's peer-reviewed science.

Three landmark studies published in 2025 all reached the same conclusion.

The solution

A gym for your reasoning.

OffTheLoop trains the five cognitive skills that AI dependency weakens most — through daily exercises that produce results you can feel in your real work.

Reasoning workouts

Daily 10–15 minute adaptive exercises in logic, argument analysis, and evidence evaluation. Your difficulty adjusts as you improve.

AI audit labs

Evaluate real AI-generated outputs. Spot errors, identify biases, find what's missing. Train the skill no competitor offers.

Thinking Score™

A composite metric tracking your reasoning across five dimensions. See where you're strong, where you're weak, and how you improve over time.

The founder's story

Why I'm building this.

AI adoption is growing fast, and the benefits are real — but there's a side effect nobody's solving. People have stopped thinking before they turn to AI for answers.

I've caught myself doing it: even for problems I could easily work through on my own, my first instinct now is to prompt AI rather than think it through myself. I'm not using my critical thinking skills, and they're getting weaker because of it.

I see this everywhere — in colleagues, in friends — and the research confirms it's real and measurable. What worries me most is the next generation. Kids growing up with AI as their go-to for everything may never build these skills in the first place.

That's not a technology problem — it's a human problem. And right now, nobody is solving it.
